“Market Forces” on the Colbert Report

September 25, 2007

The Word: Market Forces

I really should have found this video a day before. Very useful in answering question 1 of today’s econs paper.

And for those who still remember their sec 4 SS notes: Colbert Interviews Tom Friedman (Author of “The World is Flat”)

Till the next time, it’s me, woonie, signing off.

I am officially not ready for Promos.

1 day to Promos.

4 days to end of Promos.

At least I’m confident of passing my music practical exam. That’s 20 out of the 40% weightage for music promos.

But no. I’m still going to flunk my econs. I took out a random essay qn and tried doing it. I could recall absolutely nothing that I had read earlier in the week.

woonie is so going to die a horrible death during the promos. either that or he’s going to get retained. either those or he’s going to have to be forced to drop a h2 subject.

Or maybe a miracle happens. I accidentally knock my head against a hard object, go unconscious, and start getting full marks for my test papers. Then after promos I promptly forget my newfound knowledge. (read: Czech crash victim wakes up speaking English)

[or maybe everything's gonna be fine after all. i hope.]

Till the next time, it’s me, woonie, signing off.

gay?

September 12, 2007

While everyone is pondering about the sexual orientation of a certain chem teacher in RI, another RI teacher, who is rather popular among the student body, came to reveal an unknown side of him.

I am not going back in the closet. When you ask me who I am, I will answer: I am a son, a brother, a long-time companion, an uncle, a teacher, a classmate, a colleague, a part of your community, a HDB dweller, a Singaporean. And I am also gay.

Enneagram

September 2, 2007

Your Score: 9 – the Peacemaker

you chose BX – your Enneagram type is NINE (aka “The Mediator”)

“I am at peace”

Peacemakers are receptive, good-natured, and supportive. They seek union
with others and the world around them.

How to Get Along with Me

  • If you want me to do something, how you ask is important. I especially
    don’t like expectations or pressure.
  • I like to listen and to be of service, but don’t take advantage of this.
  • Listen until I finish speaking, even though I meander a bit.
  • Give me time to finish things and make decisions. It’s OK to nudge
    me gently and nonjudgmentally.
  • Ask me questions to help me get clear.
  • Tell me when you like how I look. I’m not averse to flattery.
  • Hug me, show physical affection. It opens me up to my feelings.
  • I like a good discussion but not a confrontation.
  • Let me know you like what I’ve done or said.
  • Laugh with me and share in my enjoyment of life.

What I Like About Being a NINE

  • being nonjudgmental and accepting
  • caring for and being concerned about others
  • being able to relax and have a good time
  • knowing that most people enjoy my company; I’m easy to be around
  • my ability to see many different sides of an issue and to be a good
    mediator and facilitator
  • my heightened awareness of sensations, aesthetics, and the here and
    now
  • being able to go with the flow and feel one with the universe

What’s Hard About Being a NINE

  • being judged and misunderstood for being placid and/or indecisive
  • being critical of myself for lacking initiative and discipline
  • being too sensitive to criticism; taking every raised eyebrow and twitch of the mouth personally
  • being confused about what I really want
  • caring too much about what others will think of me
  • not being listened to or taken seriously

NINEs as Children Often

  • feel ignored and that their wants, opinions, and feelings are unimportant
  • tune out a lot, especially when others argue
  • are “good” children: deny anger or keep it to themselves

NINEs as Parents

  • are supportive, kind, and warm
  • are sometimes overly permissive or nondirective

Sleeping is the most fun a boy can have without ponning lectures
by Sabrina Lau and Ali Tanjim
performed by The Boyahs
(Ali Tanjim, Naing Yelin, Daniel Wu Yang, Ng Wei Wen)

Just an ‘S’ and there’s remedial
Clashes with my H3, yeah!
But there’s myh tutor standing next to me,
‘A’ for Promos.

Just because I don’t do my work,
You issue me white slip, yeah…
I promise I won’t pon lectures
‘A’ for Promos.

I know that I’ll be okay,
‘cos you changed my world.

CHORUS
Lectures in LT2, I haven’t got a clue
I need you by my side to pull me through
I’ll meet you after school,
Without you helping me I’m like a fool…
Teachers, that’s why we love you.

It’s just GP and I can’t get by,
My England CMI, yeah…
Integration’s also cannot do,
I’m only good at PW.

Tried to mug Demand and Supply
But my essay made you cry, oh no… (yeah…)
Tried to pretend that I was imba
But I even failed my SPA.

I know that I’ll be okay,
‘coz you changed my world.

CHORUS x3
Lectures in LT2, I haven’t got a clue
I need you by my side to pull me through
I’ll meet you after school,
Without you helping me I’m like a fool…
Teachers, that’s why we love you.

Meeting with RI teachers goes here

—————————-

My original plan for the day was to go back to Henry Park to visit the teachers. Then Mark said he had to go back home to prepare for his trip to Phuket.

The plan changed to going to LAN with Aaron Tan and co. Then when I spotted the Sec4GEP2006 pple playing soccer, my plans changed again.

And so, I found myself playing soccer with the Friday Afternoon Soccer gang. I missed those days already.
