Dramafeste Day 2

February 27, 2007

The thing about events like Dramafeste is that everything that you want to write about it on your blog should be posted within half a day of its occurrence. If not, the emo-ness that’s supposed to be present in the blog entry would be gone/would not have the intended effect and impact on readers. Especially the positive ones.

Like now.

I had so much to say about Dramafeste 2007. I have so much to say about how wonderful and great every single member of the MT Dramafeste Team had/has been.

But right now, all I can say is sorry for all the technical screw ups that occurred during the 2 actual runs.

Best Actor: Brian Chua (MT)
Best Actress: Calpurnia [sp?] (BW)
Best Script: Benson Koh (BW)
Best Director: Isaac Long (MT)
Best Production: MR (wtf?)

And oh, Sexy Back is indeed the official song of Dramafeste 2007.

“I’m wearing Sexy Black!”

Staying over at Royce’s house, joined in by Alex, is fun. You-tubing, gossiping and chit-chatting at 2am. wahaha.

Till the next time, it’s me, woonie, signing off.

music lecture yayyy

February 26, 2007

I’m beginning to love mondays a lot. Especially if music lectures are conducted by Mr. Gooi aka 6001.  Today I had the most interesting music lecture since lecture 1. We had to compose a piece based on mandarin oranges! So my group Jan-ie, MeL-ie and woonie came up with a literal translation on the process of eating that damn thing. Playing random notes by ‘chopping’ on the keys to show the chopping of the oranges, pressing all the notes of the piano then slowly releasing each key one by one to show the peeling of the orange and stuff liddat. omg we’re like how cool la.

And (i think) me and jane are making some progress with our duet piece Beethoven’s sonata in D major. We can memorize the whole of the first half of the duet yayy! But we still kinda suck in terms of synchronization, especially the running notes.

——————-

During physics lecture:

“Sir, is there supposed to be anything on the projector screen?” – Mel Ho

“[turns around] Oh. Oops.” – Physics lecturer, who promptly pressed the RGB1 button to show the powerpoint slides instead of what was on the visualizer [which is basically nothing.]

And I thought the lecturer was punishing us for being noisy and late by depriving us of viewing PPT slides. d’oh.

(I’m so gonna die for physics lecture test this thurs. What’s with this uncertainties thingy…? ><)

Till the next time, it’s me, woonie, signing off.

Dramafeste Day 1

February 24, 2007

Murphy’s Law states that “Anything that can go wrong will go wrong”.

In addition, it also states that:

If you perceive that there are four possible ways in which something can go wrong, and circumvent these, then a fifth way, unprepared for, will promptly develop.

So based on previous bad experiences with the laptop, there were 4 ways sounds could fail during the play.
1. Computer goes on hibernation in the middle of the play.
2. Computer shuts down without warning when not connected to a charger
3. Forgetting to connect cable between laptop and LT2 sound machine thingy.
4. Computer lags.

And I ensured they would not happen by:
1. Modifying the power options of the laptop.
2. Always having a charger attached to the laptop.
3. Making sure that cable is attached.
4. Turning on the laptop in advance.

Guess what happens next.

Correct! The unforeseen 5th way the sounds could possibly fail on us in the middle of the play happened. THERE’S NO SOUND COMING OUT FROM THE F-ING LAPTOP. press Play on iTunes. No sound. *freaks out. Opens backup playlist on windows media player. no sound. *almost fainting. RESTART COMPUTER. sounds working.

Then the cast were like stoning on stage waiting for their music cue. Thank god. Sarah (“Hope”) woke up, prodded the rest of the cast, and they did the little dance without the music. Twice. Thank god.

I’m so going to get a CD backup for tomorrow.

(Problem 6: CD PLAYER SPOILS! OH NO! ZOMG!)

The only thing people could talk to me about after the whole show [i.e. 5 houses' play] ended was about the screw-up.

But if not for Wang, who told me to restart the computer, I probably would not have restarted it, and I probably would have panicked even more.  hurray for Wang.

And hurray for the wonderful cast who managed to come up with something impromptu during the technical difficulty.

Would blog about earlier events some other time, when i feel like it/when i have time. yayy.

CNY Day 1

February 21, 2007

And i quote again from a blog post dated 10Feb2005:

CNY day 1 was, like, nothing much happened.

1. Getting angpao from parents
2. some prayers in temple
3. lunch at maternal grandma’s house
4. visit to [dunno which side] grandaunt’s house [the dog is cute!]
5. visit to maternal granduncle’s house: watched The Best Bet, the storyline was well written. [in case u forgot, it's the one that keeps playing the "irritating" music in the MRT stations]
6. dinner at paternal uncle’s house followed by a blackjack and mahjong session until 11pm.
7. Home.

Guess what. The flow of events for CNY Day 1 this year was exactly the same! zomg! except that this year, we watched kung fu mahjong at my granduncle’s house. But still, it’s a movie.

Oh wait, this year, we went to my aunt’s house before item no. 6. we only watched half a movie so we had time for one extra home visit rofl.

Till the next time, it’s me, woonie, signing off.

Interhouse cybergaming

February 15, 2007

MT got owned, but at least it wasn’t ultimate pwnium.

MT CS Team 3 got through to the next round due to walkover, and almost got walked over the next day if not for the fact that the eliminated Team 2 players took the spaces left by Team 3 players who didn’t come. We lost 11-8. =(

At least I didn’t play newbishly. During one round, I was the only one left, with the bomb. I planted the bomb, camped there, and managed to kill 2 enemies from long range, then i ran out of ammo and got killed. the bomb exploded and we won that round yay.

So MT got 4th overall for cybergaming. =(

Till the next time, it’s me, woonie, signing off.

V-Day

February 14, 2007

From my blog post dated 14Feb2006

And i do hope i hav a more memorable v. day next year.

Indeed, it was rather memorable. At least more memorable than the last: RI vs. Westwood Sec Rugby match @ SJI, when YouKai injured his finger; waiting at the RTC bus stop, hoping that she’s on the #132 bus going home.

This year, I’m studying at a school that actually celebrates this occasion. Balloons, song dedications, chocolates, spotting a random J2 couple alone in a classroom late after school. hmm… My class played this secret valentine thingy, so as to let everyone suffer the commercialism of V-day.

I bought this random chocolate bar for MelHo, which melted when she finally appeared later, while I got a pack of cards from Linda [it wasn't even new o.O nvm]. Some classmates were giving presents to the rest of the class.

And I spent V-day afternoon in the com lab waiting for my team’s turn only to find out we got a walkover, and at DF rehearsals, only to find out that tech run is postponed due to the repairing of the LT2 stage lights [yayyness!]. (more…)

gamelan

February 12, 2007

I think music lessons are getting kinda boring, but cool.

dun play with men

The reason why the girls were laughing the loudest during music. [stolen from jane's blog]

Basically, those ancient indonesian pple play the same set of 32 notes for godknowhowmany times while singing the above lyrics.

And I got Jane to do duet with me for mep concert yayy. Some random sonata in D by beethoven i think.

My own teammate collided into me when i tagged someone during touch rugby. My neck hurts like crazy, I can’t look towards the right. ow.

Another Lecture Day

February 8, 2007

Thursday = Lecture Day.

Coffee in the morning = 0 minutes of sleep through lectures.

yayy.

And our GP teacher finally came back after recovering from (what do you call it?) stomach flu. I got back my diagnostic essay and surprise surprise! It actually has good comments written all over it. For the first time in, uh, 5 years (?) I actually get good comments for any random essay written in english. Though she did give comments like “give opposite viewpoints” and stuff liddat. But still, it’s a morale booster, and I’m motivated to pay more attention in GP classes yay.

Goal-setting lecture during PE period. I expected games, but the pe teacher said he was scolded for letting us play during the past 2 afternoon pe periods. \=

Played soccer with some random buckley pple later, before going to canteen to play some bridge.

I really should get started on the econs essay soon.

Till the next time, it’s me, woonie, signing off.
